I am currently SOLD OUT of inventory!
PLEASE DO NOT PLACE YOUR ORDER ON THE WEBSITE! CALL OR E-MAIL ME AND I WILL HOLD REQUESTS IN THE ORDER THEY ARE RECEIVED.
Your business is important and appreciated.
Sales this winter have been greater than I anticipated. (You guys in the "far North" might not be riding right now but ya'll sure are doing a lot of wrenching!) My engineer and his shop are machining new levers as you read this.
I spoke to Gary (engineer and machinist) on the phone today and he said I should have levers in about a week. I will post info as it is received.
I apologize for any inconvenience.
THANK YOU, Conrad Buehler
If your Harley Davidson Big Twin has a stripped transmission lever replace it with a BETTER LEVER.
View the How-To Page!
The BETTER LEVER part and repair process eliminates the need to remove and reinstall your bike's primary drive or replace the transmission's shift shaft when resolving a stripped transmission shift lever on your EVO 5 speed or Twin Cam 5 speed motorcycle. Evos and Twin cams have a motor assembly that ties the engine, transmission and primary drive together into one solid assembly. On 5 speeds the primary case is too close to the transmission's shifter shaft to allow the stock shift lever to slide all of the way off of the end of the shift shaft. If you ride a 6 speed the redesigned primary case is not in the way so replacement is easier.
When the shift lever strips, there is damage to the transmission's shift shaft (pawl shaft ) as well. Even though it is made from a much stronger steel, the tips of it's splines are compromised enough that another stock lever may not grip very well, or for very long. The Better Lever is made to grip your old shaft even after the stock lever has been stripped on it. Splines are measured and cut for exact fit to grip in areas a stock lever never touches. Better Levers are made from stainless steel and are CNC machined and EDM cut for quality and production consistency.
I have to give all the credit to my engineer. I went to Gary with an idea and a sketch and he made it work. He has a very well equipt machine shop and he and his employees are quality driven. Their work is consistently excellent!
The Better Lever is made in the USA
and shifting bikes worldwide.
By far, most of my customers ride FLs and many ride daily. Most tell me their lever started getting excessively loose somewhere around 30 to 35 thousand miles. Some realized their problem when they started having trouble shifting into neutral and some when their foot lever fell down onto the floorboard! (my experience) A lot of my customers tell me they are going to pull their primary anyway, to do maintenance or perhaps replace a leaky pawl shaft seal, and while they are at it bolt on a Better Lever. Municipal garages use them for less down time on their Police bikes, and many other everyday riders enjoy the reliability as well.
Naturally, check your Better Lever and all your levers regularly. If loose, tighten 'em up before you leave home so you won't have to limp back. I had to when my stock one gave out and it wasn't fun.
The Better Lever is $159 plus USPS Priority Mail shipping, $6 to USA, $20 to Canada and $21 to all other countries (includes shipping and cross border charges).
Enjoy the Ride!
